St Catherine’s Breakwater

Location: Jersey

Purpose: For shooting scenes of Guida and Ranulph’s boat journey out to Écréhous.

Historical background: St Catherine’s Breakwater was initially supposed to be a harbour for the Royal Navy, but plans to complete it were abandoned due to the huge expense of building the northern arm.

Created in the mid-1800s, it post-dates the era The Battle of the Strong is set in - but is an area from which ribs regularly set sail for trips to Ecrehous, hence its choice as a location for the film.
